More sunshine is on the way for Tuesday after some patchy morning fog.  Afternoon highs will be in the lower 80s Tuesday with a light south wind at 5-10mph.  Look for a few more clouds late in the day but it looks like any chance of rain will hold off until Wednesday.

A cold front to our west will bring a quick round of rain across the area today.  Some thunder and lightning are possible, however we are not expecting to see any severe weather.

Rain chances will pick up through the morning hours.  The steadiest and heaviest rain will push through between 10am and 2pm.

Slow Warm Up, Mid Week Rain

Slow Warm Up, Mid Week Rain

The next few days look dry and slightly below average. (Average highs for this time of year are the mid 70s, while the lows should be in the low 50s.)

Our next chance of rain comes Tuesday night into Wednesday.  At this point, the threat for severe weather looks pretty low with this system.

High temperatures on Wednesday will be early in the day, in the upper 60s, before colder air pushes in throughout the afternoon and evening.

Our next weather maker is currently producing some nasty weather out west.

WEATHER BLOG: Warm and muggy with thunderstorms...

Southerly winds have returned to the Tennessee Valley and temperatures will remain above normal during the afternoon and overnight hours through Thursday.  The south wind will continue to bring in low level moisture so showers and thunderstorms will be possible over the next couple of days due to upper level disturbances and daytime heating.

Highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s Tuesday and Wednesday with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing.   Some of the thunderstorms could become strong with locally heavy rain and gusty winds.  Overnight lows will be in the middle 60s.
