Experts say consumers may see gas prices go up by $0.60 by this spring.
They project gas prices could be as high as $4 per gallon by May.
Nationally, prices have risen $0.19 in the past four weeks. Right now a gallon of unleaded is averaging $3.48. A year ago it was $3.12.
In Alabama, drivers are paying an average of $3.38 per gallon. That's about $0.10 more than they were paying a month ago.
Experts say there are many factors that may be contributing to the trend, including a drop in demand. More drivers are staying home to trim their fuel expenses.
Also, unrest in the Middle East tends to drive up gas prices.
