State audit continues for Lawrence Co. Commission | News

A state audit of the Lawrence County Commission is back, and while things are improving, there is still work to be done.

State investigators found 14 issues, including late payments that led to unnecessary fees and sloppy bookkeeping.

The report said the county is doing a poor job keeping track of its assets and withholding taxes from employees.

County Administrator Peggy King was fired over the problems in January.

The report showed the county is working on fixing the problems, but they're not in the clear yet.
