Stolen debit card leads to burglary suspect | Crime

Moulton, AL (WAFF) - Lawrence County investigators have cracked a burglary case.

22 year old Matthew Ray Battles of Falkville is being held on $4,500 bond, accused of burglary, theft and fraudulent use of a credit card. Sheriff Gene Mitchell says that Battles broke into a home on County Road 358 in East Lawrence. Mitchell tells us that witnesses say the crime and gave deputies a good description of the thief. A short time after the burglary, Battles reportedly used the victim's stolen debit card at local businesses.

Battles confessed to the crime while being questioned Wednesday, according to the Sheriff.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests may be in the works.
