Moulton woman arrested for stealing from Belk | Crime
A woman was arrested after police said she tried to steal more than $500 worth of merchandise from Belk.
Decatur Police officers and the Belk Loss Prevention Associates viewed the store's video surveillance system and saw Melanie Mardis, 37 of Moulton, hiding items in two Belk bags.
Mardis then left the store without trying to pay and was apprehended.
She was charged with second degree theft, was booked into the Decatur City Jail, and will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail on a $2500 bond.
