Police arrest convicted sex offender | Crime
Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and Decatur Police arrested a convicted sex offender on Friday.
Paul Mitchell Skinner of Courtland was arrested for failing to notify officials before traveling out of town.
Skinner had been living in Decatur for two weeks.
Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said that new changes to sex offender laws requires sex offenders are not allowed to take over-night trips without giving prior notice to law enforcement.
Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department worked with Decatur Police after it was discovered Skinner was residing in Decatur.
Skinner is currently being held at Lawrence County Jail in lieu of a $4,000 bond.
Skinner faces charges in Decatur and Lawrence County.
