Lawrence Co. deputies make 2 meth arrests | Crime
LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL— Two men were arrested in Lawrence County on July 22 for manufacturing of a controlled substance.
James Daniel Byars III, 23, was arrested with a charge of manufacturing of a controlled substance and Jason Clark Byars, 49, was arrested with the same charge as well as possession of a controlled substance.
Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said a suspicious pseudo ephedrine purchase investigation resulted in the two men being arrested and their quantity of pills being seized in the Hatton Community. Agents located Adipex and Percocet pills in Jason Byars’ possession during the investigation. Mitchell said James sold the box of pseudo to his uncle Jason.
Mitchell said that Jason could not provide a valid prescription for the mixture of pills and was therefore charged. Agents discovered text messages between James and Jason that indicated that the men were involved in the manufacturing of methamphetamine.
Both men were arrested and booked into the county jail with a bond of $10,000 for James and $60,000 for Jason. Jason is being held pending a bond revocation from a previous manufacturing arrest and a child support warrant.
