25th annual multicultural indian event May 17-19

The Oakville Indian Mound Educational Center will host the 25th annual multicultural Indian event May 17-19.

The event will feature vendors, traditional crafts, concessions, living history encampments, dances and more.

The event is free to the public but a $2 parking donation is recommended. Pets are not allowed.

Lawrence County schools to help raise money with charity ball game

Lawrence County schools will host a basketball fundraiser.

The Preacher vs. Teacher basketball game will be May 2 at the Lawrence County Colliseum.

All the proceeds will benifit the Relay for Life.

Youth ministers from arounf Moulton will participate in the game. The preachers will be playing against the faculty from Lawrence County High School and Moulton Middle School.

Employees encouraged to stay fit with National Walk@Lunch Day

National Walk@Lunch Day is set for April 25.

The day is designed to complement a busy lifestyle. It was created to improve personal health and decrease the costs of healthcare for employers and employees.

Employees are encouraged to bring comfortable shoes and take a walk at lunch.

Local restaurants win 'Taste of Town'

Local restaurants win 'Taste of Town'

Multiple Lawrence County restaurants took home prizes at the 24th annual "Taste of our Town."

A number of the restaurants are brand new or recently opened including Lang’s Latte’ Cafe, Theo’s Bar and Grill and Ground Zero.

Theo’s took first place in the “Best Entrée” competition, with a shrimp and pasta dish. China Dragon won second place for entrée, and Ground Zero was third for a reuben sandwich.

The Best Bread award went to Theo’s for a garlic cheese bread. Pizza Hut won second with breadsticks, and Mama’s Cafe took third place with Mexican cornbread.

Mama’s Cafe also won first place for best salad, with a pistachio salad. Lang’s Latte’ Cafe took second place with a strawberry-pretzel salad, and the Branding Iron Steakhouse finished third with pasta salad.

Lawrence County High School will host Reality Check: Envision your life.

The Business Marketing Department, business finance and economic classes, would like to invite you to a 'Hands-On' financial planning simulation.

It will be in the Lawrence County High School Library on April 3 from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

It is sponsored by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.
