Students in Alabama schools in grades K-8 will be joining students from around the world in celebrating International Walk to School Day on October 6th.

Flying pumpkins and speeding airplanes will fill the skies over Lawrence County October 30th. Hosted by the Tennessee Valley Air Center at the Courtland Airport, the Tennessee Valley Pumpkin Dash and Air Race is expected to bring in 25 to 50 pilots and their speeding aircrafts from across the United States for a day of messy fun and air racing across North Alabama.

A reception honoring former Lawrence County High School and Hatton High School coach and teacher Barbara Martin will be held Friday, October 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Courtyard Park on the corner of Market and Court Streets. All former students and anyone who had a connection with Martin are invited to be a part of the celebration.

Huntsville Hospital Foundation and the Huntsville Track Club are pleased to present the 7th annual Liz Hurley Ribbon Run. The race will take place on Saturday, October 16th starting at the corner of Lowe Avenue and Adams Street, and ending at Huntsville Middle School.
