Tornado survivor rebuilds thanks to Governor's Emergency Relief Fund

Joyce Dunn's new home was built with funding from FEMA, the Governor's Emergency Relief Fund, and the Long Term Recovery Committee.

MOULTON, AL (WAFF)- The two year anniversary of the April 27th tornadoes is just two days away. Over 60 tornadoes touched down, making the storms the largest natural disaster in our state's history. Since the storms, an emergency relief fund has helped storm survivors get back on their feet.

Joyce Dunn is one of those survivors.  It's been a little more than four months since she moved into her new Moulton home. Dunn was in her home with her family when the storm hit, leaving destruction in its path.

"All storms usually follow the river," she said.  "This one didn't and we took a direct hit."

Dunn's husband of 37 years, Mike was killed in the storm.  The storm put her and her two sons in the hospital.  When she was released, Dunn and her family stayed in a FEMA trailer.

Her new home was built with funding from FEMA, the Governor's Emergency Relief Fund, and the Long Term Recovery Committee.
